Garden make-overs for 2 senior residents of Hillcrest
The 19th Annual Hillcrest Garden Tour presented a different experience form past years. The garden tour committee decided to give back to the community by making over the front gardens of 2 senior residents of Hillcrest, rather than conducting a full-blown 10-12 home garden tour. Both seniors were delighted by the prospect of having their gardens re-invigorated. The committee developed designs for the projects then set to work digging up tree stumps, trimming hedges, removing weeds and poison ivy, preparing garden beds, and planting flowers. All flowers are perennials, drought resistant, and easily maintainable.

Funding for materials was provided by the Hillcrest Community Civic Association. Labor was provided by the committee members: Marvin Bowser, Kathy Chamberlain, John Johnson, and Tom Beach.

For next year we will go back to the traditional format for the 20th Annual Hillcrest Garden Tour in June 2013.
