To promote the 50th Anniversary of Keep America Beautiful, Brad "Yard-Man" Hauter is setting his second world record with his ride cross-county on a lawnmower, representing Yard-Man garden equipment. Starting on March 19 2003, he rode the lawnmower from San Francisco to the east coast, ending his journey in New York in early June 2003. Traveling an average speed of 10 mph, Hauter and his six-member support crew mowed from San Francisco through Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix and Albuquerque. From New Mexico, the the crew headed east through San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Bentonville, Martin, Atlanta, Memphis, and Charlotte. The stop in Washington DC on May 28th was at Twining Square where he mowed, trimmed hedges, edged, and helped volunteers plant 500+ plants. Keep America Beautiful's Great American Cleanup is the nation's largest annual community improvement program, held March through May and featuring over 30,000 community cleanup and beautification events in 14,000 communities.
